The DNA of ValleyChurch
We model a community that allows people to belong before they believe.
We are intentional about being culturally relevant without compromising the truth of Scripture.
We embrace emerging media as a developing language and are intentional about learning the evolving linguistics of this language, to better communicate in the culture in which we live.
We believe in removing all barriers to help people access the greatest message on the planet: God loves them; VC loves them; together, we can learn how to love the Creator and His creation better.
Authenticity trumps form every time. Better to be honest and broken than dishonest and pretend like everything is A.O.K.
We commit to being a people who passionately live out what we say we believe. Everything we do should be done with passion: serving, teaching, worshipping, helping, listening---everything.
Church is about people. People are the church. All else---buildings, sound and media, and all inanimate objects that facilitate our gathering---are tools. People are who Christ died for and who we lay down our lives for.
We will engage in authentic/passionate/culturally relevant music as a communal form of worship that vertically lavishes affection on our King and horizontally encourages one another to be who we are called to be.
Our current worship style and environment is intentional and will continue to be. When in our power to affect the space in which we gather to worship, we will intentionally try to engage all senses in the act of worship (lighting, audio, seating, etc.). In these spaces we will focus on encountering God with all our senses and with all our might, holding nothing back.
Our space will welcome all to come as they are---for real! Meaning, casual dress, conversation, and an accepting welcome are our normal environment. There is never a need to change to be part of our community. We would rather change the space to welcome others. We meet for others, not for ourselves.
Our evangelism model: be Jesus. Incarnate the Christ wherever you are. Even in our outreaches to the community, it is about affecting the Valley with the tangible love of Christ. Words are without effect if there is not authentic compassion behind them: “Faith (the reality of what we say we believe) without works (actually doing what we say we believe) is like a dead corpse.” Life not death, faith not fear—that's our evangelism model.
People trump programs. People trump buildings. People trump personal agendas. Simplicity keeps us all on mission:
Love God. Love people. Invite people into the story that is ValleyChurch.
